Blog #7
It has not been confirmed that my Community Partner will be the Senior Community Center, and I plan to get in contact with them and figure out if things will work out between us. If not I will be looking into another place for my community partner. To answer the question of whether Belmont's Senior Community Center has ever been caught up in a conflict relating to its various local and state relationships the answer is no because the Community Center has never really had issues with any time of government whether it be locator state, and therefore has not interracted with a conflict.

Founders' Week
During Founders’ Week I attended Open Mic
Night for Students, which was held on Thursday, February 6th. This
event was sponsored by the Center for Spirituality interns and The Bohemian
staff. Through this event I have learned that Notre Dame de Namur is very
passionate about celebrating the founding of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur
and the founding of NDNU through the programs and events that go on throughout
founders’ week. Open mic was a great experience because it gave me the
opportunity to hear the voices of such a variety of students, while enjoying
poetry at the same time. I have learned that Notre Dame is proud of its mission
and embellishes it every year when founders’ week comes up through the programs
and events to demonstrate how the heritage of the finding of NDNU is important.
The charism of the Foundresses might influence the career choices, research
pursuits or other professional activities of a Political Science graduate from
NDNU because of the mission they created and how it is carried on through the
school will have graduates from this school pursue their profession without any
hesitation, and have no problem when it comes to helping others and carrying
out justice because of the values taught at NDNU.

State Legislatures
My Community Partner has not encouraged any legislative
changes since it is a Senior Community Center the focus is more on the citizens
and not so much on the legislation side of things. There has not been an issue
in which the Community Center has felt the need to make a legislative change,
but if there were to be an issue there concern would be for the citizens and
the community as a whole. Legislative changes are not changes that take place
in one night, changes like this need to be well thought out and planned before
putting them into practice. I feel that legislative changes occur in different
situations throughout our government and organizations, but it depends on what
the issue is and where that issue is coming from, and from there one can move
on forward to make a legislative change in which better outcomes are the
result.
